'American Idol': Katy Perry booed for first time, eliminated singer rejoins show in shocking twist 

"American Idol" is bringing another surprise in the form of a new member of the top 26!

 On Tuesday's episode, host Ryan Seacrest announced that a singer had dropped out of the competition, making space for judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie's "first alternate" to rejoin the show.

 Though the contestant, from the country of Georgia, blew the judges away with a high-powered performance of "Paris (Ooh La La)" by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Perry encouraged her to go for a less showy performance next time.
